Värmlands bokfestival 2025

Nästa vecka medverkar jag vid Värmlands bokfestival i Karlstad! Välkomna om ni skulle ha vägarna förbi. Jag kommer att stå vid bokbord och så har jag scentid kl 12 på fredag den 7/11.

Jag är med i Y-salong, en jurybedömd utställning som pågår på Västernorrlands Museum till mitten av september. Den är STOR, så jag rekommenderar att man går dit ett par gånger om man har möjlighet. Här kommer några enkla mobilbilder och det konstfoto som jag har med.

På midsommarafton syntes också mitt fotografi i Tidningen Ångermanland.

New exhibition opening on Saturday / Ny utställning med vernissage lördag

Today was the opening of my new exhibit and it went really well!

I dag var det vernissage för min nya utställning, hos Gådeå Konstförening på Vårsta i Härnösand, och det gick jättebra!

There were lots and lots of visitors...

Det kom massor av besökare...

...who were served delicious fika by the art society which had invited me to exhibit!

...som fick jättegott fika av konstföreningen som hade inbjudit mig som utställare!

omg... even Santa came! Santa, who turned out to be a she, said that my photographs made her warm inside even though she had been out in the cold all day.

herreje... till och med tomten kom! Tomten, som visade sig vara en hon, sa att mina bilder gjorde henne alldeles varm inuti trots att hon varit ute i kylan hela dagen.

I sold framed art photographs and had also brought open edition prints and my poetry books.

Jag sålde ramade konstfotografier och hade även med mig lösa bilder i öppen upplaga, samt mina diktböcker.

Exhibition opening on Sunday / Vernissage på söndag

I have a solo exhibition coming up here in Härnösand and it opens this weekend :)

Välkomna på vernissage, ni som är i närheten eller sugna på att åka till Härnösand en sväng! Min utställning börjar nu på söndag, skyltsöndagen, på Vårsta.

Yesterday's exhibition opening, music festival, party crashing, nightclub and almost ending up in Norway. / Gårdagens vernissage, musikfestival, partyplankning, nattklubb och att nästan hamna i Norge.

I think the title says it all, really. First my exhibition opened, along with exhibitions by other artists, at a gorgeous place called Solebo and then there was a music festival about 1 hour away in the home of a musician! As in, we sat in the living room and dining room and anywhere we'd fit.
Rubriken säger väl allt. Först var det vernissage för min utställning på Solebo, ett jättefint ställe utanför Härnösand, där jag ställer ut tillsammans med några andra konstnärer. Sedan en timmes resa till en musikfestival, Manifesto i Töva, och festivalen var hemma hos musikerna Josef och Maria Eriksson! Allså vi satt i deras vardagsrum, matsal och varhelst man fick plats.

On our way there we saw a road sign pointing towards Trondheim, Norway, and decided it would be pretty cool to go to Norway but we had things to do today so...

På vägen dit såg vi en vägskylt som pekade mot Trondheim så vi kom på att det kunde vara kul att åka till Norge bara sådär men vi hade saker att göra här hemma i dag så...

...we went back to Härnösand and crashed a party which looked like fun and very glamorous (after all, we looked pretty cute in our dresses and huge hair flowers) but we were thrown out because it was the private party of some kind of order...

...vi åkte tillbaka till Härnösand och plankade in på en fest som såg fin och glamourös ut (vi hade ju ändå finklänningar och stora hårblommor och såg rätt söta ut i dem) men vi blev lite utslängda då det var någon ordens privata kalas på St Petrilogen...

So we went to a nightclub and danced, danced, danced! Please note my high heels; I think I did really well! And then it was morning and then I slept a little and woke up and turned into a vampire again for vampire movie musical Master of the Moon.

Så vi gick till en nattklubb och dansade, dansade, dansade! Märk väl mina höga klackar; tycker att jag gjorde det där riktigt bra! Sedan var det morgon och så sov jag litegrann och vaknade och blev vampyr igen till vampyrmusikalfilmen Master of the Moon.

My Francesca Woodman inspired rock band photos for an exhibition / Mina Francesca Woodman-inspirerade rockbandsfotografier till en utställning

I was recently asked by the curator of the Museum of Photography, Fotomuséet, to shoot a punk rock band called Jetbone, using another photographer as an inspiration. I'm doing this along with famous Swedish photographers such as Hans Hammarskiöld and Bruno Ehrs - we're all shooting the same band in the style of another photographer. The photographer I chose is Francesca Woodman, one of my favourites, and these are my photographs along with the ones I used as inspiration. Even though I was inspired by hers (and I don't normally work that way), I think I managed to make them very afiori as well. There will be an exhibition later on - I will get back to that in due time - and the band, Jetbone, will be using our photos.

Jag blev nyligen tillfrågad av chefen för Fotomuséet, Petter Österlund, att fotografera punkrockbandet Jetbone och använda en annan fotograf som inspirationskälla. Några riktigt berömda svenska fotografer, t.ex. Hans Hammarskiöld och Bruno Ehrs, gör samma sak, alltså fotograferar samma band i en annan fotografs stil. Jag valde Francesca Woodman som förebild, en av mina favoritfotografer, och här är mina fotografier tillsammans med inspirationskällorna. Trots att jag utgick från hennes bilder (och inte brukar jobba på det sättet) tycker jag att jag lyckades göra dem egna och i afiori-stil och inte bara som kopior. Det kommer att bli en uställning framöver, får återkomma angående det, och Jetbone kommer att använda våra olika bilder.

I'm working on a lot of things right now but one of them is preparing for Gammlia Christmas fair in Umeå. This will be the 3rd year I participate and I'm bringing some new additions to afiori, like Christmas cards (folded and single), photo necklaces (I also create custom ones, check my shop http://afiori.etsy.com) and stickers. Of course, I'm also going to create lots and lots of notebooks and bring my photographs and collages, both framed and unframed. See you in Umeå! I'll be inside the museum. Jag jobbar med väldigt mycket just nu men en sak är att jag håller på att förbereda inför Gammlia julmarknad i Umeå, 3-4 december, kl 11-16 båda dagarna. Det här blir tredje året jag är med och jag har lite nya saker med mig från afiori, till exempel julkort (både enkla och dubbla), fotohalsband (jag tillverkar också personliga på beställning, se min svenska butik) och klistermärken. Jag kommer naturligtvis också snart att sätta igång att tillverka massor av fina anteckningsböcker och album och ta med mina fotografier och collage, både inramade och oinramade. Already at age 11, Maria-Thérèse Andersson started to practise photography at school. First analogue, then digital. Her next step was to print out images on paper, paint on them and scan them back in. This results in a multi-layered motif with a life of its own, turning into something completely new.

She has had a solo exhibition in Stockholm in 2010 and her images were purchased to decorate the set of thriller The Roommate (2011) with Gossip Girl actress Leighton Meester.

Maria-Thérèse Andersson has created the images for her exhibition titled Glow during the course of the past two years. The latest image was finished last night. What may, from a distance, appear as a regular photograph turns out to contain much more as one approaches the image, step by step. The mixed technique accentuates the objects, sometimes making them appear to be floating. What is pure is further purified since the surface has become rough where acrylic paints or watercolours have been painted. Or it becomes transparent.

What, then, does glow mean to Maria-Thérèse Andersson? Of course, the colours of autumn leaves and flowers, but it may also be birds flying across Paris, a wandering cat or various circus environments. There is also a dancer casting a shadow on a worn wall, whispering about resurrection. That image was created for dance company Norrdans and their performances of Schakt and Feeding Monsters (2011).

Maria-Thérèse Andersson works mostly according to colour and shape. The image of a lone bird, frozen in its flight, is placed on a painted, pale, yellow background resembling a da Vinci painting. There is a sense of timelessness and mystery to the piece.

An old facade with a sign that says Le Cancan is interesting in itself, but is given a completely different meaning and emotion by the different layers of red. This is neither static nor a covered surface. It looks more as if the facade is filtered through sheer, red rose petals. It seems like a memory, remembering something dear.

One of the images is black and white. You look down inside the half-opened or open tulip flowers. Their magnificent colours cannot be seen but they still trumpet a nuance-rich palette of their power to grow, in a secretive fashion. It is not Maria-Thérèse Andersson's thing to shout out her message – neither is it something that she has to do.

Glowing artist takes on Timrå library

Artist Maria-Thérèse Andersson has to find passion in what she does. Her unique images can be seen in a Hollywood movie, and now, a selection of her art photographs are exhibited in the Timrå library with the theme Glow.

Maria-Thérèse Andersson lives in Härnösand and has worked full-time as an artist for almost three years. She likes to combine photography and painting in her peculiar, somewhat mysterious images.

- I work a lot with doubleness and the sense that there is something hidden in the image.

This can be seen in the image ”Happy Circus”, for instance, which was taken at an amusement park in Paris. In spite of the happy, colourful stripes of the tents, a sense of imminent threat rests upon the motif.

The selection of images exhibited in Timrå consists of slightly older images as well as completely new ones, taken to capture the intense colours of fall. Glow is the theme which runs through the exhibition like a red thread.

- I always trust my emotion and chose the images first, then thought about what united them. That's when I saw that they all share some kind of glow, be it love or passion or saturated autumn colours.

Maria-Thérèse Andersson's images have been internationally noted and can be seen in Hollywood movie The Roommate. The artist herself is right now part of vampire musical movie Master of the Moon which is being filmed in Härnösand, and at the same time she blogs, plans to increase her jewellery production and also to create a Swedish webshop within her business Afiori. 

And new ideas continuously roll through her creative mind. 

- When I get an image in my head I want to make it come to life and then I just have to think about how I should go about doing so. You can do this 24 hours a day – which is probably what I do, she says. 

Today her exhibition opens at Timrå library and her works will be displayed until November 4.
