my dear maria, i do not think you are rude at all. it is sad that people out there would take what is not theirs and publish it without regard for your creativity. i was actually wondering whether you really do have copyright because i thought you had to pay for that, or can you just say it is copyrighted to you? i would like to think my stuff is copyrighted cause it is made by me. keep fighting for your rights! your white photos are great.xx

oh! Well, it's different if you invent something and want to protect it from being copied by others, for instance, then you need to pay for a registration and even then you're not safe. It is easier with art and writing: if you make it yourself, if it's your idea or interpretation then copyright is yours the instant you create it. If your birds are "invented" by you the copyright is automatically yours. It's a different thing if you use someone else's pattern. But draw something, write something that's not a copy and the copyright IS yours.

P.S. I'm by no means a lawyer or anything - I've just read up on the things that have to do directly with what I create. In a dispute I'd still have to prove my work was mine, not just say it.

So sorry you have to deal with this! It's a shame, really.

On a lighter note, I tagged you on my blog. :)
