A new favourite place / Ett nytt favoritställe

Even though I've been to Rome a lot of times (around 18?) I don't know a lot of places where you can just sit and write, read, think for a while - at least not if you want to have coffee or something to eat as well. Unless you're completely new to my blog and my life, you know I want my fika :) And in Rome, I think the coffee culture is so very hurried. You just gulp down your espresso quickly at the counter, unless you want to spend three or four times more (still less than, for instance, Starbucks) and sit down. Even then, it's hard to find a place in central Rome, I think, where you can sit for a while and write or whatever and relax for a bit. And I'm happy moving around a lot, normally, but this time I had some stuff to do. So - I found a peaceful place in a very unexpected location, at Giolitti, famous for its gelato. On the side (of the very busy ice cream counter and bar) there's another room, spacious and almost empty, where you can have coffee, coffee drinks, fancy schmancy ice cream cups and enjoy free wifi. I promise I'm not sponsored by Giolitti (unfortunately); I'm just happy I found this place, albeit at the end of my stay. However, I think there's a lot of better gelato in Rome, I'm not all that impressed with Giolitti that way and don't understand the hype.

I had a wonderful little coffee drink with espresso, amaretto, ice and cream. Oh my sweet goodness, this was perfection! The little chocolate cake was okay, too dry and not.... well, it just wasn't that good, but oh my god the coffee drink!

Men kaffedrinken!
