Welcome to the Mad Tea Party 2012! / Välkomna till årets tékalas!

Maria-Thérèse Sommar

Hello, hello! Welcome to this year's Mad Tea Party! I'm Maria-Thérèse and I will take you on a small international tour of what we in Sweden refer to as excellent fika. Fika [feeeka], you see, is the act of sitting down to have coffee, tea, lemonade or another nice beverage, along with a selection of pastries and cookies, with friends or alone, for the purpose of relaxation and enjoyment. Kind of like a tea party. Oh, did I mention that we do it every day here?

The Mad Hatter has prepared the fika for us...

Apa the cat is playing the piano...
Katten Apa spelar piano...

Let's go to one of my favourite fika spots, my mum's veranda!

Look at that view! Let's have some delicious strawberry cake and wild strawberry wine.

Next, we walk up a hill to my aunt's house and have coffee from golden cups in the sunshine.

Wait, what's that? A boat? Suddenly we're in Venice!
Vänta, vad är det där? En båt? Plötsligt är vi i Venedig!

This is where I was one and a half week ago, at Caffè Florian, and had a wonderful coffee drink... But let's visit Paris too while we're at it!

A beautiful old café I stumbled upon at Place des Petits Pères...

And then, Ladurée...
Därefter Ladurée...

The white rabbit is calling, telling me to get back to Sweden again and have fika with her instead.

Thank you for dropping by!
Tack för att ni tittade in!
