Apa the cat's fourth life / Katten Apas fjärde liv

Hello, hello! I have so much to tell you about what I did in Stockholm but many, many photos to sort through so first of all, these are the dramatic events I referred to earlier this week.
Hej, hej!

You may remember Apa, the cat I gave to my neighbour because I saw on Facebook that he needed a new home or he would be put down (and he was just one year old). I really thought my neighbour would keep him forever because she loved him and he seemed to really enjoy living there. He's such an easygoing cat, but the thing is, he's never been outdoors and last Sunday my neighbour told me over a cup of coffee that she was going to put him down - simply because he had seemed unhappy and bored lately in her small apartment (much smaller than mine) and she felt she wasn't able to let him go outside.

I was shocked. He's a perfectly healthy, super nice and clever young cat. And she didn't want him to have to move again - it would be his fourth place after the girl who got into university in Stockholm and couldn't keep him, and her mum couldn't keep him, and my neighbour couldn't keep him... And I've been very allergic before, live in the same building and have to be able to just go anywhere at any time... But I thought - no way in hell are you going to kill my cat. Because I do sort of think of him as my cat, or my friend, since I saved him once before.

So... I went on Facebook, linked to my Apa album and asked for help, and there was help. But my neighbour hesitated. She wanted to be sure Apa would end up in a nice home or she preferred that he'd die.

Men min granne tvekade.

I visited Annelie and Bernt, a super nice couple with two young children, a house in the countryside, two cats and a dog, and took a photo of them to show my neighbour to prove they were nice people, and took photos of the surroundings - a huge area for a cat to play in and run like hell and catch mice... I actually put the couple through an interview of sorts, including references, and they passed with flying colours. And fortunately, my neighbour was convinced.

The next day, my neighbour packed his things and I drove him to his new home. He was on the passenger seat next to me in one of those little cages and only meowed twice. I tried to keep his spirits up by singing little cat songs to him and talking about all the cool things he'd be able to do in his new home. He stuck his paw out and held my hand. I was honestly afraid that the huge dog or the two other cats would scare him.

Apa instantly liked Bernt and seemed curious and excited, even though he was slightly confused when one of the cats hissed at him. I hear she's stopped hissing and started kissing him now.

And Apa... Och Apa...

...has all of this and I hope his fourth life will be his last, and a very long one.
