Alter ego

When I was little and someone would come up to me and ask "What's this little girl's name?" I would reply "Sofia". It's not Sofia,
it's Maria-Thérèse, but for reasons unknown to my parents I would say Sofia.

This is something I can't remember doing myself, unfortunately. I think it was just a name and not an entire character I made up. Oh - by the way - I'm sure I wasn't kidnapped because I have my dad's teeth and eyelashes and my mum's index finger.

I did have imaginary friends now and then but ended up abandoning them; they weren't that much fun. They must still be sitting somewhere in my mother's house.

Back to the subject of alter egos: do you have one? You are on the internet; perhaps you're using a screen name? What does it mean to you?

I'm going to give you an assignment:

If you had an alter ego, what would it
be like?

Name, looks, occupation, interests, temper? Likes, dislikes? Would it be human? A hero, a villain, an accountant or interior designer?

Think about your alter ego for a while and if you choose to do so, express it in a photograph, painting, a piece of writing, an installation or any other creative way you can think of.
